Cybermen

If you have been watching the reruns of Doctor Who on everybody’s ABC you would have been treated to some classic William Hartnall stories, however due to failing health, by the fourth season Bill was unable to continue with the series leaving the BBC with a problem of having a very popular series but no lead actor. An interesting solution was devised and after a battle with the evil Cybermen the Doctor was so physically worn down that he regenerated into a new person, literally..

Enter Patrick Troughton.

The story “The Tenth Planet” unfortunately is lost so we will never get to see it which is a shame because it contained the regeneration and introduced the Cybermen, who would rival the Daleks in their popularity. A second Cyberman story “The Cybermen” (also lost) followed shortly afterwards with the third Cyberman story “The Tomb of the Cybermen screening tonight.

If you haven’t watched the early episodes of Doctor Who, this is a good one to watch.
