Wheel of Fortune

I have been watching commercial television!

Not only that but the show I have been watching is Wheel of Fortune!

In what is a rather unusual event, the current “champ” on the wheel is a minor celebrity called Adam Spencer. It’s unusual because this is not a special celebrity edition of the show.

Adam has been the breakfast radio host on the national youth network triplej for quite a while now but at the start of this year decided that this would be his final year doing that. He is incredibly smart. A geek who studied pure mathematics at uni, was on his school debating team and enjoyed playing chess (“hello ladies”), he actually is majorly extroverted with a very quick wit.

As part of the decision to leave his current job, he and his co-host, Wil Anderson, decided to complete 10 things they have always wanted to do.. Thus The wheel came about.

Now it is a fairly safe assumption that people of Adams caliber don’t normally pick shows like Wheel of Fortune if they decide to go onto a game show, preferring things like Millionaire or Sale, it’s also pretty safe to say that he wiped the floor of the rather dopey looking carry over champ who was lacking a certain degree of style anyway (can I have a “C” for Charisma thanks, Steve)

This morning Adam confessed that he was a bit nervous about going on the show. He went through all the standard audition and screening tests to get there, but because he had spent a few months talking up his potential appearance, he knew that if he bombed out it would be something that would come back to haunt him, to the point where his gravestone would say “_d_m Sp_nc_r”

So that’s two nights of commercial TV.. and I guess I’ll be watching at 5pm tomorrow. To see Adam acting like an over excited schoolboy is amusing to say the least.
